Review Task 6 (Direct Instruction lesson demo)
Decide upon direct instruction lesson idea and any needed materials to teach your lesson to 5 students.
Remember that you can teach anything you want, academic or non-academic. This should be a “how to ________” lesson where you teach a specific skill. Just remember – you will only have ten minutes to teach your lesson.
Download this UbD lesson plan template and add a first draft of following for your direct
instruction lesson (skip all other sections):
1) Lesson Topic
2) Grade level (your es]mate)
3) Length of lesson: required – 10 minutes
4) Learning objec]ve using CABD format
5) Learning activities (write out four steps – introduction, presentation of new info,
guided practice, independent practce) and activities for each step
Bring any needed materials in order to teach your lesson to a small group of up to 5 colleagues. Optional: Begin drafting any presentation slides or handouts. We will also have planning time in our session for this. I can place anything electronic on my website for you. I do not have copier access at Oliver. Bring paper copies of anything you like.
